Pool by Water.org

My roles: creative direction, art direction, prototyping, ux, ui | Team: developer, interaction designer

About
Ideo.org came to me to help them prototype a new look for an app they designed for Water.org called Pool. Pool is like a savings account, but instead of your money being loaned for profit, your money is pooled with others to help support clean water projects through micro-loans. The main objective of the project was to identify a visual model for showing user impact over time, and applying it to the full user experience that included onboarding, the homescreen, milestones, and deposits.

First Deposit
The concept of a Rate of Impact helped people see how their money contributes to more tangible outcomes like gallons of water that would now be accessible to people via new taps, water lines, and toilets that could be built using loans provided by people’s invested money.

Impact
In order to help people more easily visualize their impact (especially as their impact increased over time) I created a toggle that would translate that impact into more digestible numbers.

The Green Circle
This consistent design element was an important way for people to understand their impact over time across multiple micro and macro level app views and screens all the way to the completion of milestones.

Animation Tests
I created animations showcasing two important interactions in the app so the development team could more quickly and accurately build out the intended motion identity.
