About
Bandio is a public benefit corporation created by Common Sense Media and Aleo Networks Foundation. With Bandio, you can create a reusable digital age band with no personal information attached to it —just age. On apps and sites where knowing whether a user is an adult or a child can make a big difference in the content and features, you send the appropriate Bandio age band to the site instead of entering a birthdate there or revealing any personal information to the site.
Name + Logo
The name Bandio was inspired by both the concept of age bands (or ranges) and the physical idea of a band or bracelet you would wear to gain access to a physical space.
The “O” in the logo takes on the form of a window that serves as a frame for content across various design compositions. This shape brings a slightly technical and unique quality to an otherwise classic logo.
Band Types
The idea of a band manifests in three ways as reoccurring design elements—as a frame or window for photography, as a key when everything but the O is removed from the logo, and as a color band that is a visual and proportional representation of the age ranges established in the brand system that can add texture to the edges of compositions.
Logo as Band
Sometimes the logo takes on a more “physical” form when used as a signifier for the product. For example, when someone creates an account, they can choose the colors of their “band.”
